Coaching, Helping and Influencing others

I define my day job as coaching. I help teams grow, i help them become creative. I try to build teams with a safety net where we can learn, grow, experiment, have fun, be producting while following agile methodologies.

I love to do this, meet great people, and story tell in order to convey information and offer a path to follow. I try to help a few organisations a year, be it a young student who has an idea and wants to get it done, or simply inspiring existing teams to embrace change and renew themselves.

I was at a private MVP conference last week, and presenting was Richard Campbell. He gave a very inspiring talk and these are a few takeaways i had.

1- The word talent usually has bad rap; people work hard to get where they are, and it is diminishing to say he is talented when that person spent years developing those skills. I guess the old saying “practice makes perfect” should be “practice makes talented people”.

2 – Be positive and cheerful, more specifically when introducing people amongst themselves, celebrate them. Endorsement is great recognition.

3- Build relationships, everybody has things in common – even if it is the fact that we all have two eyes and one nose…

Sometimes we get lost in all of our technology talks and must remember that humans are the ones doing the works, humans are the creative ones, humans work together.
