The Lenovo Yoga 900

Every 3-4 years I upgrade my laptop. This time I chose to try a Lenovo Yoga 900. It is light and beautiful and packs a 2.5 ghz i7 processor and 16 gigs of ram.

My initial impressions are positive. The screen’s hinge works well, it feels solid and I like the look.

The things I like less:

  • The keys on the keyboard are a bit shallow
  • It comes with waaaaay to much crapware, and asking Windows 10 to reinstall itself brings that crapware back
  • Lenovo created a 25 gig partition that holds their drivers…. That is way too much…
  • The recovery partition – is that still required ? I though Windows 10 could reinstall itself without a recovery partition… I might be wrong here though
  • The touchpad is way too sensitive.
  • The charger should have a 2nd usb port so I can charge 2 devices at once…

Now, the problem that kills me : it suffers from the same problem as the Surface Book or Surface Pro 4 when hyper-v is activated where the screens flickers without end. Microsoft fixed it quickly by releasing an updated display driver. Lenovo still has not released a driver and so, I cannot do any work with this device as of right now. Please Lenovo, I have reported the problem, gave you all the information you needed to figure it out, fix this problem quickly !
